Chamsys MagicQ GDTF Import Improved

The Chamsys MagicQ software added much improved fixture import via General Device Type Format (GDTF) in the MagicQ Software Update Version 1.9.7.1 (current latest version as of July 2025 is 1.9.7.2). The MVR import has also been improved for MVR files where fixtures are patched to an out-of-range universe.

GDTF Share Crossing the 7000 Total File Count Mark

The total number of manufacturer- and user-generated GDTF files in the GDTF Share has surpassed 7000, marking a significant milestone, as the entertainment industry manufacturers move towards general support for this technology. Recent GDTF Share Reports of the past few months indicate a consistent increase in support for GDTF from multiple lighting fixture manufacturers, including the newly joining JB Systems, ER Productions, EK Lights, Rasha Professional, Volux, and others. Do note that the monthly reports are focused on total count of devices and do not include counts for multiple file revisions.
