DMXRouter now supports MVR and GDTF, making it easier to import lighting projects, replace placeholder fixtures, and quickly check and control devices using accurate manufacturer data.
DMXRouter is a cross-platform tool for routing, merging, and monitoring DMX data across Art-Net, sACN, and RDM networks. With the latest updates, it becomes much more powerful for real-world workflows thanks to new support for MVR and GDTF.
The biggest advantage for users is speed and simplicity when working with lighting files from other software. You can now import MVR files from popular tools like Capture, grandMA3, Vectorworks, Depence, and WYSIWYG, and immediately get a usable setup inside DMXRouter.
Placeholder fixtures are no longer a headache. The app can automatically detect generic fixtures and replace them with accurate GDTF profiles from manufacturers. With built-in GDTF Share integration, finding and downloading the correct fixture data takes just a few clicks.
Once fixtures are loaded, DMXRouter makes testing and setup straightforward. A dedicated Fixture Check view lets you control parameters like dimmer, pan, tilt, or color using clearly labeled controls. You can quickly highlight fixtures, reset them to defaults, or release them-making it ideal for commissioning and troubleshooting.
The update also improves workflows for complex fixtures like LED walls or pixel-based devices, which are automatically expanded into individually controllable elements. This means you can work with detailed setups without extra manual configuration.
For on-site work, a mobile-friendly web interface mirrors the control view, allowing you to walk the rig with a tablet or phone while making adjustments in real time.
Overall, the new MVR and GDTF support turns DMXRouter into a much more practical tool for importing, fixing, and testing lighting setups-saving time and reducing friction between design and execution.
